Fitness Inspiration

Daily exercise is essential to living a life of optimum mental and physical wellness.  Whatever form of fitness that you embrace, make it fun and challenging so that you stick with it on a regular basis.  Exercise is your best therapy.  It's a stress reliever, increases your energy levels and makes you feel amazing.  I love so many things that involve exercise: running, swimming, biking, yoga, paddleboarding, hiking, pilates, CrossFit, etc. Stay active doing physical things that interest you; this will set you up for long term success.  If you enjoy running, find a buddy or group of people (such as a running club) that will run with you.  This makes you accountable and makes it more fun.  I love the community aspect of CrossFit.  My box is full of friends that are like my extended family.  We have a great time working out together and enjoy a little healthy competition (all in good fun, of course!)   My CrossFit journey started in June 2012.  I walked into my first box in pretty good shape already (so I thought...) having worked out 4-5 days per week for the last 15 or so years.  I did many different home workout programs, was an avid runner (completed my first half marathon in October 2009), was a member of several different popular gym chains (repeatedly doing just about every group fitness class available), created my own home workout programs, etc., but I was really bored with these routines.  I wanted a new challenge.  I wanted someone to push me and unleash my potential.  Well, I definitely found all these things in CrossFit.  My first WOD (workout of the day) was brutal, but I loved being pushed to my limits and having a coach there to cheer me on to the finish.  Just when I thought I was strong and fit, it made me realize that I had much more room for growth in my athletic abilities.  CrossFit has changed my body, it's fun and constantly challenges me mentally and physically.  I received my CrossFit Level 1 Trainer Certification in October 2012 and was recently certified in CrossFit Endurance in April 2013. I now enjoy coaching others and helping people work hard to achieve their fitness goals.  It's fun, it's rewarding and it's a community that I'm really proud to be a part of.
Find and embrace your fitness passion and make it a non-negotiable part of your day.  You should and CAN always make time for yourself, to nourish your body and spirit through physical activity.  Be the best you that you can be!  You only have one body, so be kind to it.  A great physique is only an aesthetic bi-product of being physically fit, feeling good and spiritually nurtured is your primary goal.  Live fit and live well!
